"Long ago the Dark Knight Sparda rebelled against the dark emperor and waged a one-man war to save humanity. Thousands of years later, a religious organization worships this renowned savior and has taken it upon themselves to rid the world of all evil. Residing in Fortuna, this organization is known as the "Order of the Sword," and is made up of an elite group of "Holy Knights." One day a young knight named Nero witnesses Sparda’s legendary son Dante slaughter his fellow warriors. Has the renowned devil hunter turned his back on mankind? What does this encounter mean for these two individuals?
In Devil May Cry 4, players control the formidable Nero who comes to grips with his newly found power as his beliefs and allegiance are tested. Continuing the legacy of fast paced action synonymous with the series, Devil May Cry 4 pushes the envelope of excellence even further with the inclusion of a new combat system that incorporates Nero’s "Devil Bringer." This new feature has players delivering overwhelming damage to enemies with non-stop combos, while gaining new power for Nero’s right arm. With the PlayStation 3 system's advanced graphical capabilities, high definition visuals and intricate detail come to life as players explore new and exotic locales. Amazing visual effects and dynamic action coupled with a complex storyline, provides the very cool, slick and stylish attitude that only a Devil May Cry game can deliver." (IGN.com)

According to Jeff Haynes, Christmas came early to them. "DMC 4 will present two separate difficulty levels for players to test their skills with. For newcomers to the series, the Human setting should offer a challenge but help ease players into monster killing. For veterans of the franchise, however, the Devil Hunter setting should present more than enough of a challenge to your abilities.
Like previous Devil May Cry titles, Nero is judged at the end of each mission on how quickly he completes a level, along with how many orbs he collects. Another factor that plays into the evaluation is how many stylish points he receives in battle, based on how long he can keep up his combo string. Ranging from D to SSS, Nero can gain a larger bonus if he mixes up his strikes and avoids taking damage. Taunts also help extend the combo meter, making it easier for players to acquire larger point bonuses. Nero appears to have a number of gambling terms attached to his attacks. With strikes known as the High Roller, Roulette Spin, Split and Double Down, we're not sure if those are creative names for his attacks, or if these gambling moves are indicative of his character. Like previous Devil May Cry games, Nero will find himself sealed into specific areas (tinged with red energy) that he'll have to fight through or break the seal of a puzzle (formed of blue energy) before he can progress forward. Some of these puzzles are straightforward, tasking you with figuring out the solution that's immediately in front of you, while others require items that bestow new powers on Nero."
