Oh Gee

I overspent today buying clothes for my new job.. Guess I was over zealous but the harm is done already. I met up with a couple for friends to watch Balls of Fury after that. So after a whole day of shopping and walking, my feet hurt like a monkey's ass on fire so I was so ready to sit down and relax that's when Eddy socked a surprise right into my face. His new car. A Nissan S15 Sylvia in purple. My reaction wasn't as ecstatic cos I have bad experiences with fast cars... I get motion sickness. Not because it's too fast, but it's too low. Gosh my tummy... But anyway, the engine was making funny noises so he stopped the car to take a look and after that, click, the damned thing wouldn't start. I insisted we push start it, so in my stilettos I pusssshed the car down 2 slopes and round the car park just to try to push start it. In the end, the tow driver and Ed and I had to push it down to the bottom cos it was way too low to tow it out. I was so thirsty and tired. From then on I named the car, Brinjal/ eggplant cos I hate it.

Find a Job? Easier said..

Great.. So now I've got my degree... so what? Everyone expected me to get one? Albeit from a local University.. At least I've got something now... and a distinction... But what then? I got a degree cos I wanted to and not because anyone forced me.. My diploma suffered such humiliation taking the bombardment of C's. At least I have a better looking transcript now and it's really thanks to my group mates Ning, Zann Mabel and Natasha cos without them I guess I'll get really bad grades.

16 Days New Zealand! Kaikoura, Christchurch, Methven and Hanmer Springs

We spent 16 days in beautiful NZ this July- August! It was like super awesome, filled with adventures and fun and animals! We took the motorhome again as it'll cut costs and it's very convenient.

Read about things to do in Kaikoura:

Top 10 Holiday Park in Kaikoura

Whale Watch

Dolphin Encounter

Maori Tours

Kaikoura and whale watching. Kaikoura (pronounced as kai-ko-ta, if you say it as kai-kou-ra, it means 'I like to eat bird feathers') is known for their fresh seafood, especially the crayfish which costs about NZ$45 for a whole crayfish and served cold with mayo and chips. One can find that Kaikoura is home to a number of wildlife, 'Kaikoura's seas are alive with an abundance of wildlife with the giant Sperm Whale, the playful Dusky Dolphins, sleepy Fur Seals, sharks, fish, albatross and other bird life.' The National Geographic team have also been trying to find a live Giant Squid after one was washed up dead on the shore years ago. Read about their expedition.

We had been told by staffers at Whale Watchers that if you are prone to sea sickness, to sit at the back, but if u like the excitement of the choppy waters, in the front. Of course we sat in the front! 2nd row.. right next to 'Justin Timberlake' (check out Kaikoura photos for him). Smart... At first it was cool you know, like flying over the water cos it's so choppy? But the captain needed to stop to check for locations of whales and by the time the boat stopped for the 3rd time, I was turning green and totally disorientated from the lurching side to side. At that time, it was only 15 mins into the 2 1/2 hr whale watching tour! Eddy and Justin were quickening their breathing and finally, Justin had to change seats with a middle aged man behind, while Ed sort of half sat with his leg on the chair, back straight up like a poker was up his ass. We managed to catch sight of 4 Blue Whales that afternoon. Beautiful creatures they are..

If you go to Kaikoura, make sure you look out for a roadside Kaikoura BBQ Seafood stall recommended by Lonely Planet. It is ABSOLUTELY something not to be missed! The seafood chowder can bring even the toughest warrior down to his knees!

We drove down to take a look at Mt Lyford on our way to Hanmer Springs, which I kept pronouncing as 'Malfloy' hahaha! It's the biggest Alpine Resort with numerous log cabins scattered and the road isn't that treacherous to go up, unlike Hanmer Springs last year >:( . But too bad, it uses tow ropes and looked really boring. Not many people there.

Hanmer Springs was exactly as we remembered it to be. We finally took a dip in the Hot Springs and boy was it HOT, until you get up to go to another pool... brrr. Storm the dog from Pines, the site we camped in was still there. So remember if you'er going there bring your bikini and bog shorts. Hell you can even wear your sweater and jump in if you're really scared of the cold! That's what we saw a bunch of China national students wearing in the pools.

Azlan brought 2 of his 4 kids for a one night stay at Hanmer and boy were they excited! Speaking of excited, I was reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows in the motorhome when I saw a streak of grey right under the cupboards! A small mouse! I was stupefied. How did it get in? So I checked everywhere, under the sofa, under the cupboards... no holes. I yelled at Ed, who was sleeping on the top bunk that there was a mouse inside and we laid an ambush for it. I even managed to get a photo of it sprinting towards the drivers side where it disappeared under the floorboards. We never intended to kill it, just to get it out in case it started to bite everything. Eventually, we allowed it to stay with us. We had to, there wasn't a way we could move faster that it. And it was rather cute. So we just left bread on the floor so it wouldn't bite anything out of desperation.

Check out when you're there:

Hanmer Adventures offers Quad bike trips, horse treks , scenic flights, rental of skis and more.

Hot Tracks a heavy duty specially designed Swedish military vehicles incredible in all terrain ability.

Thrillseekers for bungee jumping, jetboat rides and all sorts of fun adventure activities.

After Hanmer Springs, it's straight to Methven and Ed's favourite activity, snowboarding, at New Zealand's premier ski fields, Mt Hutt. We met a resident dog named Possum at the campervan site, a fierce looking thing but really a darling girl.

Go for Hasslefree Lord of the Rings tours. We had a young handsome guide named Glenn bring us on the trip. We were given trivia questions and watched a hilarious interview.
We were to head to Edoras home to the Rohans. We were also served sandwiches and juice and champagne for lunch with a glorious view of snow tipped mountains and crisp air. We were told that the wind was so strong that it blew Orlando Blooms fake nails away. He was really upset. However, Director, Peter Jackson reassured everyone that everything was cool and to keep up the good work despite the strong winds. He was telling everyone to keep calm, till the wind blew his glasses off! And we heard how Viggo Mortensen got selected out of everyone else as well as who the other shortlisted actors where. You wanna know? Then go for the Lord of the Rings Edoras tour at Hasslefree!

If you don't know, my parents are unaware that I went for this holiday or that one last year, with Eddy. And I intend to keep it that way so all you people zip ok? Anyways, the parents wanted photos... and I told them I was going on a tour, so where the hell am I going to find photos?! Easy... just take candid shots of anybody Asian! Coincidently, I met a classmate from Capoeira taking the same flight, however heading to Adelaide instead. Thank god for her if not I'd be a standing sucker waiting for Ed, who came at 7 pm while the flight was 7:50pm and I was there since 6pm.

I didn't snowboard this year cos we only managed to go up the mountain once due to strong winds so I'm not gonna talk about it. All I did was to sit there and play PSP while everyone was zooming by.

There was this one point of the trip that I really got mad at Ed. Actually a few times... make it more than a few... Christ! To tell you about one.. ok this incident really made me want to kick him for being so silly. He wanted some mangoes and let me tell you, the mangoes there are are sour and hard unlike the ones you find in Singapore, it's quite nice actually cos we eat it cold. Well, since the air there is cold, it was unnecessary to put drinks or fruits in the fridge. People just leave them beside the window to keep them fresh. So this smarty pants insisted on putting 2 mangoes into the fridge despite my complaints. The next day, he wanted to have some to compliment his dinner and guess what? Them mangoes were FROZEN! Hahahaha! What a goose! He ended up having to suck on them like popsicles! In the end, he put a couple into the top cupboard because it was warm there due to the lights fixed there. I told him that it was silly and they would be squishy later, but as usual he chose to do ti HIS way and ignore me. As usual... What is it with men and taking some advice or listening to the ladies? I'm sure you won't suffer from erectile dysfunction after listening, nor will you turn into a pansy. They really ended up squishy after only half an hour. Grrrrr...What a waste of 2 nice fruits and they weren't exactly 2 for a penny. I don't even want to go into how many times I was mad at him for doing something that I wish he didn't. I think my tongue had rigor mortis from being forced keep still. Don't get me wrong, he's a dear, but he does get on my nerves.

Despite all my nerves, I had fun though, if it's one thing, Ed's a great traveling partner and I know I'll never go hungry if he's around. If there's anything better than a kind guy, it's a guy who can cook ;).

I had my beef pies and lots of hokey pokey ice cream and even had fish head curry, murtabak and nasi goreng at a friend's place. And I did love all the dogs we saw, Storm from Hanmer Springs, Possum from Methven and Dusty, who's Azlan's new guard dog for his totally awesome new pad and don't forget the resident Mallard ducks at Kaikoura!
